Yoga
in Kárášjohka - Karasjok

New yoga year starts in Karasjok on Monday 8 January.

Our yoga room is in wonderful Badjenjárga 36, in the former knife forge - now Sami Path - 2.5 km from the city center.

We use different techniques during the yoga. Sometimes there are long and deep stretching exercises, other times exercises and breathing where the purpose is to give energy, strength and cleansing.

Yoga means union, that body, mind and soul are united and work together. How you use and how you feel in your body affects your mind. In the same way that your state of mind has an effect on the physical body.

We don't need to be aware of this to do yoga, but the fact that you do yoga not only strengthens tendons and muscles and makes you softer in the body - little by little it also makes you calmer, more patient and opens up a world that is beyond this physical world.

The form of yoga used is kundalini yoga. Kundalini yoga contains all the elements of yoga - stretches, different breathing techniques, exercises that are held or moved in certain positions and angles. The length of the exercise and the level of difficulty are adapted to the level of the group. These yoga evenings suit you with some to no yogic experience.

Rest and meditation also is a part of this yoga. There can be short rests between the sessions and a longer one at the end - to integrate what we have redeemed or built up. The yoga evening always ends with a meditation where the mantra or breath, finger position and gaze are used to process the mind, as we see the human being as a unit where body, mind and soul belong together.

The instruction is in Sami and Norwegian, depending on who is participating. The mantras are in a different language.
